Get to Know Michael J. McKarski
Current Role:
Associate Attorney
How long have you worked at Cohen, Feeley, Altemose & Rambo?
I joined the firm in March of 2021.
Why did you decide to become a lawyer?
I decided to become an attorney to help the individuals who didn’t, or felt like they didn’t, have a voice in our legal system.
Who is/was your mentor? What was the greatest lesson you learned from him/her?
My father, Edward McKarski, who is also an attorney. I am still learning lessons from him on an almost daily basis, but if I had to sum it up to one it would have to be that you can be an amazing attorney, father, and husband at the same time.
How did you choose your area of practice?
I have always had a passion for helping those in need. It was not until I started practicing that I realized that individuals who have suffered injuries due to another’s negligence are sometimes in the most need. I strive tirelessly to make sure each of my clients are rightfully compensated for the injuries they have sustained.
What motivates you to work hard?
My clients. I know that they are putting their trust in me at a time that they feel hopeless. Knowing that they placed their trust in me drives me to do whatever is necessary to make sure they get their just compensation.
What do you like to do outside of the office?
I am an avid sports fan and I enjoy being active and outside. Any time I am not working I am most likely with my wife, Katie, biking, playing pickleball, golfing, or going on some new adventure.
Name one fun fact about you that would surprise others?
I’m a pretty good chess player.
Where is your favorite place you have visited?
It is impossible for me to name one, so any place I have yet to visit. I have a passion for immersing myself in new cultures and experiences.
What one piece of advice would you give to lawyers starting out today?
Never forget why you decided to become a lawyer. There will always be a demand for your work, but it is important to remember the passion that made you want to become an attorney.
