Your free personal injury consultation in allentown is coming up. what should you do to prepare?

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO RELAX.

Law firms, attorneys, and legal proceedings may seem scary, but your consultation with an attorney is just a conversation, just with more paperwork involved. Imagine it much like any other conversation you’d have with a friend who had no idea that you experienced an accident: you’d want to tell him how it happened, where it happened, and when it happened. Your relationship with your attorney should be one that gives you a sense of trust and comfort. After all, your attorney is the one who is fighting for you through these difficult and often complex proceedings.

BRING EVERYTHING WHEN IT COMES TO INSURANCE AND MEDICAL PAPERWORK YOU MAY HAVE RELEVANT TO THE ACCIDENT.

The most important thing to bring is any police report you may have from the accident, as well as your up-to-date automobile insurance policy for the vehicle you were driving. If you weren’t in your own vehicle, bring your personal automobile insurance policy anyway, as it may still be helpful, as your attorney can explain. Your attorney can help you understand what coverages are available for your accident, and just as importantly, inform you as to which coverages you may be lacking for the future.

DON’T THROW ANYTHING AWAY.

After an accident, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the amount of paperwork you receive. We recommend keeping it all in one folder or in one place to ensure that it stays safe.

TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR VISIBLE INJURIES.

Injuries heal. Visible injuries will become less prominent over time. By taking photographs of your injuries right after they occurred or at their worst, it will be much more difficult for the other side to downplay your injuries.

KEEP A JOURNAL, EVEN IF IT’S SHORT.

It’s hard to remember exactly what issues your injuries cause you on a day in, day out basis. By keeping a journal of your difficulties, you will have created a much more complete record of exactly how the accident affected your life. Likewise, keep track of which medical providers you went to after your accident. It will make it much easier for the attorney to understand the timeline of your health.

DON’T SPEAK WITH ANY DEFENDANT OR THEIR INSURANCE COMPANY!

They may bait you into making statements that are detrimental to your case or may trick you into releasing your claim completely. It may feel awkward, but you have every right to ignore their calls or to simply inform them that you’re hiring an attorney. Don’t let anyone bully you out of your right to fair and just compensation.

PARTNER MARK ALTEMOSE RECOVERS $775,000 FOR 29-YEAR-OLD MAN IN EASTON, WHO SUFFERED HERNIATED LUMBAR DISC IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT

Our client, a 29-year-old man who is the CEO of two companies, was struck head-on in a motor vehicle accident. Approximately six weeks later he began experiencing lower back pain and numbness down his leg and was diagnosed with a herniated disc. He underwent surgery but was left with scar tissue around a nerve. As a result, he continues to experience almost daily pain. While he remains able to work, he must limit his physical activities. He is likely to require revision surgery at the location of the prior surgery. He incurred $14,194 in past medical expenses.

We made a claim against the other driver and recovered the $25,000 liability limits and then pursued an underinsured motorist’s claim.  The UIM claim settled for the sum of $750,000, providing our client with a total recovery of $775,000.
