3. What is it like to work at Cohen, Feeley, Altemose & Rambo?

An interesting question during COVID-19 pandemic. Most of our attorneys and staff have been together for a very long time. We rely on each other and know we can trust each other. In hard times, we have come together even more. Though we are now working while more physically apart, we have been able to continue doing our jobs through the help and dedication of our amazing staff and attorneys.

4. Why did you decide to become a lawyer?

From the time I was a little girl, I could not stand when something was unfair, or when someone was harmed due to an injustice. I have a great passion to make sure I do everything I can to help people who have been victimized.

5. Who is your mentor? What was the greatest lesson you learned from him or her?

My father, Brian Clifford, has been my greatest mentor. There are so many sayings he had in business, but my favorite may be: “The next person who talks loses.” He passed away almost 3 years ago, but every day his voice is in my head giving me advice.

6. How did you choose your area of practice?

In 1986, I graduated from Temple Law School and then worked in insurance defense for a year in Philadelphia. I wanted to move back to the Lehigh Valley where I grew up and the first job I got was with Martye Cohen in personal injury, and the firm eventually evolved to Cohen, Feeley, Altemose & Rambo.

7. What’s one thing – either industry related or not – that you learned this month?

As a lawyer I always say that no matter how many years I do this (and I have been doing this for 35 years…yikes!), I literally learn something new every day. Just a few days ago while researching to help one of my partners on a case, I learned a detail about estate law and how certain heirs may inherit after a wrongful death that I did not know.

8. What motivates you to work hard?

I am not sure, it is just in there.

9. What do you like to do outside of the office?

I actually took up furniture refinishing a couple years ago, and it is now my passion and also an outlet from my day job. On weeks when the township where I live allows residents to put out bulk items for trash collection, I run around garbage picking. I have gotten some amazing finds.

10. Name one fun fact about you that would surprise others?

I love reading old gothic romance novels and mysteries.

11. Where is your favorite place you have visited?

Long Beach Island, New Jersey. I sort of think when I die my soul might haunt the island.

12. What one piece of advice would you give to woman lawyers starting out today?

You will not believe the advice, help and support you will get from your fellow women lawyers. We are your “sisters in law.”
