Pennsylvania law requires that bikes may be ridden:
- On the shoulder of the road in the same direction as the flow of traffic
- In the right lane of a two-lane road
- In the furthest right lane of a multi-lane road, or

“Dooring” occurs when the driver or occupant of a stopped or parked motor vehicle suddenly opens the door into the bicyclist or the bicyclist’s path of travel. The cyclist cannot avoid a collision and may be injured or killed.
